World No. 12 Kyren Wilson clinched the world champion title for the first time after beating qualifier Jak Jones 18-14 in the final at the Snooker World Championship on Monday.

Wilson took the first seven frames in Sunday's first session and held his advantage for at least three frames throughout despite Jones launching a strong comeback.

The 32-year-old Wilson scored four centuries and eight more breaks over 50 points in the final, becoming the 23rd player to lift the trophy at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield.

"I have dreamed of this since I was six years old. To win it with all my family there was just how I imagined it," Wilson was quoted by the World Snooker Tour website as saying.

"I believe I can be a multiple world champion - hopefully the first one is the hardest to win," he added.
